fifty nine

The thing about facing an enemy, be it fear, be it yourself, be it a person, be it a group of individuals, be it a nation, is that a person turns into the very thing he is up against - he can be the same or stronger, fiercer, more brutal, and more ruthless if it need be for the reason of self preservation and of upholding what he believes is right and fair for the involved parties.  It then eventually leads to unconsciously fighting one's own self.  And in the end, self-destruction.

This is the problem in every and any war.  This was one of the five topics in the third question in the People and Literature in Film's midterm exam which I believe can be applicable in every day existence.  But the real question is, how do you confront what you need to confront when it is very dangerous to fight head on? Should we just hide behind the bushes? And if you're already that creature you manage to put into existence, how can you go back to your old self?

*Thoughts on what's happening in Iraq, Africa, and every war that happens within ourselves.
