bella notte

[meteor showers are not an uncommon astrological phenomena, merely a happenstance of celestial debris. as the galaxy's meteoroids travel their set trajectories, their exteriors shed layers of ice and dust in their wake. if Earth's rotation turns itself into this trail of cosmic waste, the debris sucks itself into the Earth's gravitational pull and creates a "shower" of light as the meteors burn through our atmosphere. most meteor specimens are destroyed upon entry, leaving the cynical sane to wonder why the destruction of (what is essentially) cosmic trash could ever be heralded as romantic. how maudlin!

... but inexplicably, you find yourself on one of the many -- yet oddly isolated -- blankets spread across the camp grounds this evening. over the past few hours, small fliers have posted themselves with the approximate time and orientation of the Orionid meteor shower due tonight. you may be joined by a group of friends, enemies... perhaps you are side-by-side with your loved one. and why not? for this is the night, when the heavens are bright! and oh, but such a lovely gratuitous date-night post bella notte~!]
