Do you want to die?

I would just as soon avoid enduring Lady Hela's company yet again.

The poor lady.

Pity not the Goddess of Death... Pity rather the spirits in her fell keeping.

I am a keeper of the dead. A vassal of the past. Should I not be pitied for their wailing?

Dost thou seek to provoke such wailing? To increase its volume by consuming e'er more of the living at a time? To spread the dominion of the grave o'er all the Realms?

No. I do not.

Then dost thou rather offer comfort?

I pity anyone who is touched by the past. It killed my aunt, made her go mad. Quite similar to the Lady Hela. Pity does not lessen the deed. But I find it is still important.

Pity and succor are two different things--the one an emotion, the other an action. Together they are more than either separately, yet pity alone is far less than comfort given for whate'er reason. To offer pity but no comfort to those wailing souls in thy charge reduces greatly my pity for thee.

And make no mistake--Hela is not mad. She is rapacious by nature, but cruel by choice.

I did say similar, not exact. No, pity does not do anything. But I wish to give it when I can.

And yet I note no similarities other than gender, and thus question thy use of the term.

Then that is a point in thy favor, as is the fact that thou'rt not overtly cruel to thy charges... And yet thy tally is less than it might be.

Who knows?

That suits me. I enjoy contrariness.

Then thou'rt likely thriving, here.

At times. Not always. It is difficult for one such as myself.

'Tis difficult enough for most, so why thee in particular?

Because I ask questions such as these. The populace thinks I am to make jokes on their predicaments.
