[so somewhere in camp there was an explosion!!!! OH NOES.

except, bizarrely, this explosion seems rather... contained. Almost like it hit an invisible barrier that kept it from getting too out of hand! I WONDER WHY THAT WAS.]

It held!

[i suppose you could ask the two boys hanging around.]

You never get bored of it?

No? It's a passion, Vanya.

Also science is awe-inspiring. It's a way to understand everything around you; how it works, what it did in the past, where it came from, and what it might be. How could that ever be boring?

Oh.

I never realized it was that interesting. Sorry.

And that is a deficit in your education. Science is how your clothes are so tightly woven, how you get food every day, how you bathe yourself, where your waste goes - it's everywhere.

Is it your favorite thing?

No, it's just fun.

... and you're good at it. It's kind of like music is for me... right?

Not really. You need talent to be a good musician. To be a good science, you need passion. Talent's not that important.

I'm not good at science. What's wrong with me?

You don't like it.

... that can't be the only reason I'm not good at it.

No, that's pretty much it.
