[finally pays attention - staring at you] Oh. You want some of the bottled blood? It's pretty nasty, but it'll do.

[pause] Uh, I figured-- vampire... in a messhall, can't eat the food, might want some blood?

Well, no. I mean. They... actually have something like that?

You've never seen bottled blood? Okay, one minute--

[returns with her own opened bottle - offers] This stuff.

[takes it and sniffs at it, before taking a tentative sip]

... It's... this isn't bad. Is it real?

Nope, all synthetic. Something Japan came up with a few years ago. It's not as good as the real thing, but I know a lot of vampires live on it.

I'm kind of surprised I've never heard of it. I guess it must be a vampire thing?

Well, humans all know about us now.... You get a bunch of humans trying to drink vamp blood nowadays. I've even seen some of them drinkin' the synthetic stuff because they think it's going to do the same thing to them.

I guess you don't keep up with vampire things?

Yeah, me too! I live with a vampire, though whenever he bothers to be around, so I guess he keeps me up to date a little better?
