Serious Poll?

I'm extremely bored, so... tell me the first thing you plan on doing after you finally leave this place. Just keep in mind that if you state the obvious by saying anything along the lines of "intercourse", I can't be held responsible for what I do next.

You've been warned.

... I think I'll have to check up on the Chief. I've left him in the chill without any company for a long time now. And after... well I don't think it would be wise to make plans.

Pretty much.

The ship I was on before I came here was sliced in half and derelict in deep space. It might be the only place I can think of less exciting than camp.

That's always fun.

Are you too far away from civilization to broadcast an emergency IFF?

Well, given that I was unable to take a position fix, and our last known position was 2^18 light years from galactic center, before we went through the unstable slipspace portal, we are probably too far away from civilization for anything. And they had other things to do besides send out a search party.

Rebuilding after the war. We'd be lucky if humanity even had 5% of the prewar population when it was all said and done, to say nothing of the planetary losses. It's going to be hard to rebuild when every colony the enemy could get their hands on was burned to a cinder.

...

I'm sorry.

Well, it's less of a total loss than the last galactic war. The 'winning' side of that one built and used a system that destroyed all sapient life. Including themselves, because they had to use it before they could evacuate. Compared to that, almost anything counts as a victory.

They say life always finds a way. When this planet vanished in my universe, all that was left of humanity were a handful of refugees with antiquated technology. It took four thousand years for them to find a suitable star cluster, and develop terraforming technology.
