[the door opens with a slow groaning creak. on the other side is darkness--but not the sort of absolute no-light sort; it's more like a starless moonless night.]

[there is grass under your feet; you can definitely feel it swishing around your feet as you walk. after a while, though, you step out into what must be a clearing--there's suddenly a huge full yellow moon overhead. in the distance, you can see the outline of a small house.]

[quirks an eyebrow at it, and then shrugs his shoulders, picking up key 9 and slipping it into the lock.]

Who'd leave something like this around, huh?

[the door takes a bit of effort to open, though it unlocks easily. inside, it looks like an ordinary room, furnished like a rather spartan bedroom.]

[steps in, eyes shifting about, taking in the room.]

Huh ...

[it's a very nice little room! even though it's only got a bed and a table and a small bookshelf (empty except for one book), it looks cozy enough.]

[it takes some effort to turn the lock, but it does give with a bit of muscle. the door, conversely, opens smoothly and with just a whisper of sound, into ... a sunny field at mid-day.]

[it is your stereotypically idyllic scene: green grass and leaves, birds singing, a little burbling stream; if the animals suddenly burst into song, it wouldn't be out of place.]

[the door opens, releasing a huge puff of air outwards, like a gigantic sigh. on the other side of the door is a wide blue expanse and fluffy white clouds; it looks sort of like your typical cartoonist's rendition of heaven.]

[the door opens with a whirring noise. on the other side is a room--far, far larger than the shack should be able to hold--full of computer monitors. they each seem to be tracking a single person at all times--in fact, you can see yourself, looking straight at the screen.

a small shiba inu is seated in a computer chair, observing it all.]
