Why censor Animal Farm but not The Red Pony of Watership Down?

Reply

wasaredherring January 14 2010, 07:59:55 UTC
Because The Red Pony and Watership Down were intended for young adults, or at least older children. Animal farm was written as a political satire for adults.

...And honestly I'd rather have parents complaining about animal violence then them claiming that I'm trying to corrupt their children with communist ideas.

...Are there parents here?

There are children here. I don't see why some of the adults wouldn't take care of them.

Hmm, Ivan and the Grey Wolf was an old classic when I was growing up, but the Snow Queen is very good too...

To be honest, I'd much rather be reading that one.

It's pretty good, even though I'm not much for adventure stories.

Me neither, but they're always popular with children.
