[snakes on a plate]

Oct 05, 2009 20:07

[maybe it's just because Halloween is coming up, but there are rubber snakes all over the mess hall tonight. There are one or two real ones, and they seem to be hanging out around one man.]

You've got to be kidding me.

[ooc: passing out, I will pick up any new/old threads tomorrow]

Well, it wasn't exactly the first thing that came to the forefront of my mind when I was contemplating possible Halloween decorations this morning, but I guess it'll work!

I disagree.

I guess that'd mean you're not exactly a fan of the Suborder Serpentes--

[But before the girl named Chuck could launch into such interesting factoids as snakes possessing eyes that were excellent for tracking their prey, or that their forked tongues were exemplary in collecting airborne particles to pass on to their Vomeronasal organ for examination, she came to the sudden realization that the man before her, who possessed such a disliking for the Suborder Serpentes was none other than--]

Dr. Henry Walton "Indiana" Jones, Jr.!!!

[laughing] You'd think I would get used to that.

I'd imagine you'd get that reaction a lot, which is hardly a surprise considering your invaluable contribution to the world of archaelogy and the boost up that you gave it in both interest and image! Would it-- I don't want to be rude, but I'd really love to shake your hand because I've always idolized you and followed all your adventures since I was a little girl. I even considered a career in archaelogy myself for a brief period in time before my love of law and the realization that it would require my being able to travel to faraway places took over.

[shaking your hand with great enthusiasm]

Charlotte Charles, but you can call me Chuck! Oh, it's really wonderful to meet you! Is there anything I can get you? Pie? We have some pretty killer pie - metaphorically speaking, they don't actually cause death in any fashion - and here, let me get those snakes out of the way!

[clearing off snakes wherever she can find them, INDIANA JONES!!!!]

Uhh, hey Chuck. Making new friends? I'll have to see which pies are actually available right now.

Ned, I just got to shake hands with Indiana Jones. Isn't that just so neat?

See this hand? It's never getting washed again! Or at least it isn't until this dizzy feeling of exhilaration and euphoria fades away into a mere pleasant memory of an exciting encounter.

You may need to take a break from the marvelous world of pie-making if you're not going to wash your hands, but that does sound very exciting.

I suppose I could use a vacation from my pie-making duties. The oven's been getting a little persnickety with me, I think you should have a word with it.

Aren't you going to say hello to the Indiana Jones, liberator of rare artifacts and ancient knick-knacks? I can't believe you're not more excited about this!
