Indiana Jones and the Mysterious Weather

[if you're inside today looking outside it probably looks sunny and cheerful. However, take a single step outside and you might find yourself drenched with rain. Or in the middle of a sudden blizzard. Or just blown around by a sudden gust of high wind. Whatever it is, it vanishes as soon as you get under cover again ( Read more... )

Oh for- [snaps fingers]

[for Susan, and anyone sufficiently magical/weird-ass, time has suddenly stopped - the rain is hanging mid-air. Susan leaves a little wake in it when she walks.]

What the hell is going on here?

You're a- you're someone who can tell this is happening, but you've never seen it done before?

Not- not that I recall, at least?

[May be tentatively touching a raindrop over here.]

Hm. Well, no matter - let's see if we can figure out where all this... [gestures vaguely, collecting moisture that's in the way]

This. Is coming from.

The rain, you mean? I suppose the weather has been a little odd today.

And- and now it's stopped entirely.

Oh, no, that's just- we're outside of time. For the moment. The rain is still going, I just didn't feel like walking through it, not to mention the wind, so I... stopped it. I didn't think there was anyone around who'd get caught up in it.

You just... stopped it?

How?

A-ah. Really? That must come in handy.

Oh, you've no idea.

Still, for something like this it seems a little difficult. Even if the rain is stuck where it was, won't you still get wet if you try to walk somewhere?

Oh, sure, but you can sort of...

[picks up a random stick and waves it through a space. The stick is now wet, the space is no longer full of raindrops. Susan drops the stick: it stops in midair as soon as it gets far enough away from her]

There, see?

Oh! Use to something to clear the way. I see- how clever!

We're basically sitting in little bubbles of personal time here, as far as I've ever been able to tell. Don't ask me how it works, but whatever you're touching moves in time with you.

Will it work if I touch something, too?
