[It's a lovely summer day! Ah, so bright and sunny!

...and so there is a very pale -- deathly pale one might say, even -- young man who has just finished slopping some sunscreen lotion on himself, holding a big bottle that says "SPF OVER 9000" and contemplating it.]

So does anyone here actually know the difference between UVA and UVB?

UVA rays can penetrate deep into the skin even on a cloudy day and through windows and the like. They don't leave any immediate damage, but they're more harmful. UVB rays are what turn the skin red and make you feel hot.

Well, according to that very knowledgeable fellow over there, "UVA" is the stronger type that does long-term damage and "UVB" is the sunburn-y type. Though it's all the same to me, I suppose.
