[Late night/morning mingle post]

[it's either ridiculously late or ridiculously early depending on how wacked out your sleeping schedule is, but the Mess Hall is open and the coffee machine works, which this little detective is certainly grateful for. if you're still awake at this ungodly hour, come say hi to your friends and take shots of caffeine -- or bother the detective ( Read more... )

[Not generally one to bother people, that doesn't mean that Canaan's going to pass up morning coffee just because someone seems intent on drinking the entire carafe on their own - or that he can help seeing what's on Naoto's screen while he's pouring his cup.]

You're researching the camp?

[shakes his head and sips his coffee] Good luck. I spent a while researching, but it's difficult to make thorough sense of the archives, and not much in them that struck me as signifigant to the mystery at hand.

[sighs]

There seems to be a number of "mysteries" taking place in the camp at any time. I'm merely trying to discern their patterns, though whether that will prove useful or not is still circumspect.

[Canaan takes a seat a few feet away] I was referring to the original mystery - the supposed murder of the Director's fiance. Who happens to be alive. That is, theoretically, the central issue here, with the rest being rooted in it, or simply red herrings.

I've heard that, but as I've yet to meet the man in question, there's not much I verify as to his story. And, based on what I've read, he doesn't seem terribly forthcoming with information.

Not really. I've seen him a few times, but he isn't particularly helpful. If you'd like, I could give you recordings of those times, but they're not very informative.

I suppose it would be something to keep in records, at the least.

Do you have a USB cable you're not using?

Yes, I believe so...

[digs around in his laptop bag and retrieves one]

[he glances at the cable end, then inserts it into the side of his neck with a faint grimace] You can plug the other end in to your laptop and tell me what folder you want the recordings in; I'll drop the files there.

[looks at him curiously for a moment, then back to the computer screen]

I've created a new folder titled 'Recordings.'

[nods, closing his eyes; if Naoto's watching the screen, after a moment, file copy box pops up, indicating that two video files (Debussy1.mpeg and Debussy2.mpeg) are being copied to that folder. If Naoto is especially paranoid and watching for activity elsewhere in her computer at the same time, all is quiet.]

[totally going to run a virus scan later anyway, but for now is merely watching the screen interestedly]

[Canaan wouldn't be offended. You can't know he's clean, after all. The transfers go quickly; neither video is very long. When they finish, Canaan reaches up and unplugs the cable from his neck, then rubs the skin around his port.] . . . I wasn't made to accept this form of plug, but since coming here, it seems that almost any cable type will work. Convenient, since the correct plugs aren't available here, but it's not entirely comfortable.

Thank you. If I may, what sort of capabilities do you possess in regards to this?
