How do they work?

How did you do that?

Uh--i-it's just like any other machine. You just put the money in and push the button.

What you gotta do is stick your hand in from the bottom until it gets stuck. Then when the fire department comes to get out you, you can get all the free stuff you want!

Freeze and curse?

*have another camper staring at it*

Oh, yes. Vending machines are well known for the cursing that results when one tries to trick it.

un_familiar June 8 2009, 09:55:43 UTC
Maybe you'd better not try to trick it then.

Of course. I shall make a grand offering to appease it.

Oh! I've seen one of these before! They work like this --

[she picks up the vending machine one handed, shakes it a few times and then something falls out. Then she places it back on the ground, brushes it off and hands it to Elizabeth.]

Is that so. So a proof of strength is sometimes required... Thank you for showing me.

Well, not all of them are like this. Some of them, I need two hands!

One that requires an even greater showing of strength must have more superior goods. I will use this one, and then once I have fully mastered it, I will confront the next machine.
