They shouldn't have been mean to any travelers in the first place. It doesn't solve anything to take out their bitterness on other people. Then they're no better than the people that cast the founders out.

You might be right. That's likely the reason they decided to change their reputation and treatment of travelers in the end.

It takes time for word to travel and they might have been ignorant of what they had done.

It was the home they finally managed to find and they were tied very deeply the land. . . I couldn't say, but that was their decision in the end.

After being forced out of one home...I guess they wouldn't want to be forced out of another. That's still sad though, but it was their choice so, maybe not so sad...

Simply its reputation. After that, it was a small country that wasn't really notable.
