[Tis the day after Valentine's Day and all happy couples may still be finishing up their sweets or getting in some extra cuddles. Except for one corner of camp where a very clumsy albatross is pecking erratically at a piece of candy while a cute little dove watches from above.]

Man, now I can't even unwrap Sara's candy. You think camp would've ( Read more... )

Seeds mostly. Some eat fruit and vegetables... but most are seedeaters.

Seeds are lame. Except for maybe sunflowers, they're not so bad.

You don't have to worry. Seagulls eat anything, from fish and shellfish to garbage and french fries.

And she doesn't really have to go with the seeds if she doesn't want to. Doves can still eat leafy vegetables, bread crumbs, broccoli, apples if they're sliced small enough, mashed hard boiled eggs... cooked rice if you can get someone to make it for her.

Is that what I really am? Cuz I don't think they're supposed to be this big or. Awkward. French fries work though!

Heh it's not like we still can't raid the mess hall.

[I am so smart. Wait.

Oh facepalming now.]

I'm an idiot. You're an albatross. Mostly fish diet... and either way, it's temporary so it probably doesn't matter what you eat as long as it's not something that can kill you.

[that last part is said somewhat absentmindedly because how could I have gotten this wrong?]

What hell's an albatross?

You're a sea bird. You're pretty much one of the largest of flying birds, which is pretty much what made me look like a moron in confusing you with a gull of all things.

Let's see... You guys are pretty good fliers, because you've got dynamic soaring down -- you're able to travel thousands of miles without really using any energy at all.

You like birds or something? I wouldn't have known the difference, aside from the whole size deal. I'm still trying to figure out why I got stuck with this one.

Good fliers? How the hell do they get off the ground??

It's an interest I guess. And who knows, maybe it's camp being camp.

You got to treat it like a runway, like how airplanes take off. Run as fast as you can, and flap your wings. It's going to be the most exhausting part for you, but it'll be smooth sailing after that.

Uh is there anything else special about them?

Runway huh?

Uh... hawks, eagles, and owls are more my specialty but... oh yeah. They spend most of their time up in the air. Which makes sense, because it is going to be a pain for you to get up there. ...The problem is you rely on ocean thermals and the like... we don't exactly have those over, even over the lake. Maybe the instincts of the animal or something will be able to adapt to it.

Yeah... you're going to look kind of doofy when you run, but find a clear spot and see if you can take off.

... There is no way IN HELL I'm flying over the lake.

This is so stupid.

Well no kidding. ...But yeah, you are really out of your environment.

No problem. Though I guess it wouldn't hurt you too much considering how it's supposed to be temporary. As long as you didn't eat anything toxic or that'd damage your system...

But yeah, fruit, vegetables... cooked rice if someone'll make it for you. You've got options.
