[library post... of a sort]

[The library seems a little darker, a little danker than usual. It's nothing dramatic, though, nothing that would arouse any suspicion... unless you happen to spot that stray piece of paperwork on the ground. It's a mass of numbers with nearly illegible notes scrawled in the corners... and just the hint of a blood stain on one of the edges ( Read more... )

[obviously this is the best time to be doing some camp related research]

I'm afraid I don't. I figured events like this would be commonplace here.

Strange events are common, it is true; occurrences truly dark in nature are more rare, though.

And you think this is an occurrence of a truly dark nature?

[The darkness drapes over a set of certain books. . . they're all on good finances.]

Relatively speaking. Camp is usually more fond of humiliation and juvenile amusements than of things that cause, or even imply, actual harm.

The rash of comas lately might seem to prove otherwise. But I agree that as far as the camp itself is concerned, it seems more juvenile than harmful. That implies something or someone else is responsible for this.

Hence, "usually." I speak with a view of years -- these things have followed a seasonal pattern until now.

I have heard talk about "comas," but I am not well acquainted with the affair. What has been happening?

People are drawn into a game in their sleep where the losers end up not waking up.

A seasonal pattern? How does it usually end?

The winners wake up. Thought they do seem worse for the experience.

Yes. You're saying the holiday changes the way this place interacts with its inhabitants.

Have they been able to provide any useful information? Or is all forgotten, as is common with dreams?

Yes. The camp, or the powers that rule it, tends to celebrate holidays with what one can only call appropriate happenings, as distasteful or despicable as they may be. Given the nature of Halloween, you can surely guess what sort of celebration it entails.

The information has helped only to explain why, not to explain how. Nor has it been able to help stop the game from happening.

I suppose I can. That doesn't explain what's happening now, however.

How many have been involved in this?

No, but it does explain the irregularity of it. There is no detectable reason for this recent trend as of yet.
