Well it's actually a native fruit which has not been spotted in previous years, due to what most likely boils down to biological improvements with the camp deaging mechanisms, as the active agents of previously-hazardous food items were isolated an' the little buggers transmorphed into a more viral and meme-like state, though insofar as I'm aware no particular scientific inquiry has been made into the matter, rendering any musing on the subject completely useless, long-winded, tl;dr, and boring.
