Well, if I remember correctly, certain varieties of cephalopods may prove to be dangerous either through the possession of venomous sections of its anatomy or the risk of injury via certain extremities, such as the beak that is often present in octopus and squid! Ingestion could quite possibly result in either exposure of the aforementioned poison or internal damage due to certain hazardous extremities!

Well, I suppose that would be an effective way to prevent damage during the ingestion of such things. I still wouldn't suggest devouring them on them on the grounds of...erm...
