I suppose the pink pigmentation is aesthetically pleasing in a way, yes...though that's certainly not stopping them from obstructing one's path!

Strange indeed! The most likely theory at this point is that they originated from the lake, but outside of that small hypothesis I'm utterly lost as to the nature of these peculiar creatures!
