So, tell me about this Valentines. What time is the massacre?

((we have visitors! I am being good and social, which means I will be slow.))

And how does a massacre fit in, if I may ask?

Why, that's what we're celebrating!

Isn't it?

I don't recall there being any massacres associated with the "holiday."

All holidays start somewhere!

A holiday just doesn't appear overnight, you know. Though as it happens, it seems the holiday and the massacre are unrelated.

It's all very confusing.

Perhaps it would have been more fruitful to have researched that beforehand.

For the most part, Valentine's Day is now a holiday pushed by card and chocolates companies to increase their revenue.

I did. Just not well enough.

Now that sounds promising! Tell me more.

Of course.

By encouraging gifts to one's loved ones in the form of expensive boxes of chocolates, elaborate cards that tend to be far more gaudy than they should be, and other over-priced gifts, the companies involved in cards and sweets profit due to the fact that their sales increase because of said encouragement.

What type of overpriced gifts?

Oddities that one will most likely not use in the grand scheme of thing that cost more than double their actual worth.

Ah! I think I can handle those!
