Yes, the widely accepted explanation is that the Director of this camp is keeping us here under the suspicion that one of us murdered her fiance... However, I find it rather hard to just accept when nobody knows the whereabouts of this Director herself.

I agree. The Director must be located so that we can find out for sure what the purpose of all this is. Unfortunately, something seems to want to prevent that goal from realization. So far nobody has succeeded in finding her.
