*there's a boy, and there's a barrier.

the former is trying to throw Emo Angry Rocks at the latter, but the way they keep turning into pointy hats, frosted cupcakes, interesting party favors and helium balloons with the number 2 on them is kind of cramping his style.

so now he's throwing the cupcakes instead. come and stop the carnage!*

. . . looks like a waste of perfectly good cupcakes to me.

They're not chocolate.

Then clearly, they must die.

*picks one up and chucks it at the barrier, too?*

[sits on a nearby rock]

Those don't make for good throwing objects.

*a small distance away, there's another boy. He isn't throwing rocks, or even cupcakes.

Instead he stands, one hand out toward the barrier, fingers splayed and tensed, lips moving. The air before his hand twists and ripples, hinting at occult patterns of incredible complexity, which shift too fast to follow. There's a faint vibration in the air, rising and falling like a voice coming from inside a listener's mind.*

*just be watching, in case this somehow makes the barrier open*

*color is flickering through the air now, creeping down the unseen patterns and illuminating them in glory. The barrer begins to take on hints of color in response, slowly illuminating a pattern of its own, a hundred times as complex and beautiful in its own way.*
