What in the world is this thing?

Lots of ways! Computers are pretty amazing in that there's few things that they can't help in some way or other, y'know? They can do calculations in an instant that would take you ages to figure out by yourself. Through it you can talk to people through it that live on the other side of the world! And, most importantly, there's totally no better tool to get rid of boredom than a computer.

But I don't see why you need it to talk to people all over the world though. I mean, you could always write letters.

But letters could take days or even weeks to get to the person! This way it happens instantly.
