(Uh, to interrupt quickly, what's this whole Shukaku thing about? I'm not very familiar with the fandom, so help a poor audience member out. :()

Bypassing the whole LONG story, Gaara has an alter ego who just happens to be a sandy badger. Literally. The badger is Shuukaku.

When Gaara was a wee baby he had an insanely powerful demon (Shukaku) sealed inside of him who happens to take the form of a badger. Bad news: the seal wasn't very strong and Gaara's not very mentally stable so every so often Shukaku comes out to play and it is not pretty.

Um... Orochimaru (technically, he's a spirit using other people's bodies), Naruto, Gaara, Sasuke (does having a curse seal, which is like a lil piece of Orochimaru, count?), and a bunch of other people we haven't met yet, no doubt. 9.9*

I think it's 9. There are supposed to be nine "Tailed Demons" with the Nine-tails that's in Naruto being the most powerful.
