Huh? A camp? I'm surprised to see so many people around. The snow's finally stopped, and I think even the monsters around here are weaker. Maybe things are finally starting to turn around ( Read more... )

I'll help you look. What's her name?

Thank you. Her name's Cheryl. She's about this tall... *gestures* ...and is wearing a blue and white dress.

I need to get to her. She's in danger.

Cheryl? For some reason that seems familiar.

She should be easy to spot if she's here, there aren't many campers her age here.

And don't worry. The zombies look bad, but they're slow. I don't think they've managed to catch any one in months.

Has Cybil Bennet passed through here? She was helping me search, so you might have heard it from her.

You'd think that, but it looks like she's gotten very good at hiding since coming to this town.

I'm not worried about the zombies, there's worse in the main town. But apparently there's a demon in this place trying to make Cheryl a sacrifice. I must get to her before that happens.

No Cybil Bennets either, sorry. I'm thinking you might be more lost that you realise.

Which town is this exactly>

A demon? Most of the one's here are pretty cool, but if you could describe him or her, I might have a better chance of helping you find Cheryl.

I guess she must keep her sense of direction better than I do. Maybe that's one of the things they train you in when you become a cop.

The resort town, Silent Hill. Cheryl and I were heading there on vacation.

It takes the form of a dead little girl, and has been leaving a strange symbol called the Mark of Samael all over the town. I was told that if she's able to complete the Mark, the town will be completely devoured by the darkness and my daughter will be sacrificed.

I don't know if the woman who told me that was telling the truth or not, but I need to find her.

... Silent -- You're not Harry Mason, are you?

Um, I think the demon's the least of your worries right now.

That's right.

If you're going to tell me I'm in the future, someone else already has. If you know who I am, does that mean you do know Cheryl after all?

Yeah, I guess I do. When I met her, she was called herself Heather, so I guess I always think of her as Heather. It's cool to meet you, sir.

I'm Kon.

Heather? Huh. It's a nice name, but why would she be calling herself that?

Good to meet you, Kon.

I don't want to say too much, but after you get her back from those creeps, the two of you go into like, witness protection or something. She's real quiet about her past. I think Kabuto's the only person she's told all of it to. He's a nice guy.

This is so weird. Heather lent me some of your books, and everything.

Witness protection? I guess that would be worth it, if it keeps her safe.

Is he? He seemed like a decent young man, but I'll decide that for myself, thank you. Which would be easier if saying that a decade's gone by did anything to keep me from continuing to picture her as a seven-year-old.

Did she? What did you think of them?

He's a medic too, so he's a good person to know round here.

They were good. Like, I totally dig the way you used the darkness surrounding people and stuff as a metaphor for their like, inner darkness, and stuff. And the mystery itself was pretty cool. I'd never have guessed it was the old blind lady but yeah, I guess this would be why we leave the detective stuff to Robin.

Do you believe that though? That people aren't made good or bad, but that they choose it?

And hey, if there's anything that Heather told me about you, it's that you're not to be trusted to cook. Want me to show you the Mess Hall?

It's good that he has a career that helps people.

I... haven't written that one yet. Once you knew it was the blind lady, were you at least able to recognize clues pointing to her when you thought back on it?

There may be a few exceptions out there, but mostly, yes. I think the way you're raised has a lot to do with it too, but when it comes down to it you could be raised by the most horrible people you could imagine and still turn out to be a saint if you choose to become more than your roots.

Did she? I do the best I can, but my wife was really the one who knew what she was doing in the kitchen. Food might be good. It's been a long day.

... oops. Hope I didn't spoil it for you.

Yeah, it did seem obvious afterwards. 'Course, I had the bald uncle pegged, so it really threw me when he turned out to be secretly -- should I stop? I mean, I don't want to wreck anyghing.

That's interesting. Thanks for that.

I bet. Mess Hall's this way, it's hard to miss. It's next to the hospital, which is the only 2 storey building in the place.
