(no subject)

In the old days I used this phrase a lot: Fake it 'til you make it.

So today that's what I'm doing. I'm still not particularly happy about anything, but there's no sense in wallowing.

So in the spirit of faking it, here's a funny thing that happened to me today: I'm writing a story about a newspaper adviser at Marquette University--a Catholic (Jesuit) university-- getting fired. I've been trying to interview his boss since yesterday, and finally this morning I got him on the phone. I asked him a few questions, but since I generally dislike interviewing people (I'm in the right profession, aren't I?) interviews never last very long. After about five minutes, I thanked him for his time.

DEAN: That's it?
CAMPBELL: Yup, that's all I need.
DEAN: Wow, they should all be like you.
CAMPBELL: (chuckles) Well, you can clone me.

Yes, that's right. I brought up cloning during a conversation with an elderly, Catholic educator. Awesome. He was nice about it, though. He didn't laugh at my (hopefully obvious) joke, but he did say something like, "Well, maybe we shouldn't talk about that, since it is coming back in the news."

Er, right. As if I would ever propose that someone clone me. I can barely handle my own bouts of depression. Let's worry about Campbell No. 1 first.
