sweet land of women hating

I am so saddened by this pick of Sarah Palin as McCain's VP because it is a veritable portrait of anti-feminism in this country.

1. Pick a woman, any woman. Since the decision is an obvious attempt to pick off Hillary voters, it's clear the thinking went, "Well, just give 'em another woman." No. It doesn't work like that. Women -- me, my mother, women I meet -- weren't voting for Hillary simply because she is a woman. We felt she was most qualified, she had the most experience, she had the best ideas. In return for our votes and our enthusiasm, we are supposed to rally around a woman who does not believe in reproductive rights, does not support equal pay for equal work, has NO EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE and is a poster child for one of those scary female gun clubs? Just because she has a vagina? It's an insult.

2. vpilf.com As amandaebner noted, we didn't even get to enjoy a day before the references to her tiny frame (even through pregnancy!) and the pictures of her from her beauty pageant days started surfacing. Almost as insulting as tossing up a conservative wacko as a trade-in for Hillary Clinton are the constant references that don't let us forget that she is, first and foremost, attractive. Hot, even. Smokin'. Break me off a piece of that ... candidate for the second highest office in the land. Why is it appropriate to point out her looks at every turn? Oh, because she's a woman, and that's what we are. Things to be looked at, not respected.

The tragedy, as I see it, in watching such scenarios unfold is that so many of the people watching don't even recognize a problem.
