going greek:

why should you go greek? what will it give you that you can't get from friends in the dorms? I will tell you this, brothers will look out for you. You think your friend from down the hall is going to encourage you to do homework or not bomb a test? No, he's going to convince you to play halo or go to a party. A brother will do that too, but only when he knows that you are able to. You are here primarily to go to school and have a social life; a brotherhood will aid both of those. It is very hard for independents to meet and hang out with a ton of beautiful sorority girls, but with a fraternity, you can. You can join an established fraternity, and if you are very competitive and tenacious, you may be able to have a good position in the house. If you were a little less outgoing and want to build those leadership skills, you should join a smaller house. Plus you wouldn't have a live in requirement that a larger established house would. You are going to find similar bonds of brotherhood, similar ideas and rituals amongst all fraternities, but a house is only as good as it's weakest member because even one member represents the entire house when they wear their letters. Choose wisely....
No one was ever expelled if they followed the rules set forth to protect the brotherhood; most houses have similar rules. Ours are financial responsibility, scholarly responsibility, participating in activities, and have appropriate conduct ie. have integrity to be the example of the fraternity, and finally to rush and bring more men into our brotherhood. know them and live by them; earn your badge everyday.
