Rating : PG
Type: Oneshot but split into 9 parts. :)
Summary : Fujiwara Miyuki, like everybody else, fell for this super cute/popular guy named Chinen Yuri. For an unexpected turn out of events, they are to be seatmates for a whole semester. Chinen has a reputation for dating girls not because he likes them, but because they like him. What will happen if he finds outs that his seatmate discreetly likes him?
Chinen carried Miyuki in a princess-like sort of way. He was able to climb up the 4-step stairs but then he suddenly spotted a problem.
“Yama-chan, come here!” he called out.
Yamada kind of ran then stopped behind Chinen.
“What is it?” asked Yamada curiously.
“Knock for me,” Chinen said.
“What?” Yamada asked stupidly.
“I said, knock the door for me!” Chinen groaned. “Hurry, she’s kind of heavy!”
“Then, why don’t you do it yourself?” asked Yamada, prolonging Chinen’s agony.
“And what? Drop her on the floor?!” said Chinen. “Yama-chan! Try to be useful sometimes!”
“Okay, here it goes!” said Yamada. He coughed and said, “Knock, knock!”
Chinen stared stupidly at him.
“Was that supposed to be a joke?” said Chinen blankly.
“Okay, I’m kidding,” said Yamada, seeing Chinen’s serious expression. “Just trying to lessen the tension.”
Yamada then rushed forward to the door and knocked the door three times for real.
. After just a few seconds, a woman opened the door.
“Konbanwa,” she said smiling at them. But then, she noticed the girl lying unconscious on Chinen’s arm. “Miyuki!!! What happened to her?! Come in!”
Chinen and Yamada obeyed the woman. Both of them said “Ojamashimasu!” when they entered the house. The inside was quite simple. There was a flat television on the left side with three couches arranged neatly facing it. In front of the middle couch was a glass table and newspapers were placed neatly on it. Beyond the living room, divided by the furniture cabinet was the dining room. There was a door on the left corner leading to the garden and another door on the right to the kitchen. Close to the kitchen door was a narrow staircase.
Chinen laid down Miyuki on the middle couch. The woman quickly touch Miyuki’s forehead.
“Oh my, that fever came back again,” the woman said worriedly. “She’s pushing herself too hard.”
“Ano, konbanwa,” said Chinen. “I’m Chinen Yuri and this is Yamada Ryosuke. We are Mi─ I mean, we are Fujiwara-san’s classmates. We were just passing by when we saw her slipping off the stairs. I caught her before she fainted.” He narrated.
“Sou,” the woman said, smiling at him. “Arigatou for saving my daughter. By the way, I am Shiori Fujiwara, Miyuki’s mother.”
“Eto…” said Chinen, feeling a bit weird meeting her mom. “Will she be okay?”
“Yeah, I think so…” she said. “Her fever had already ceased hours ago. The problem with her is eventhough she’s sick, she still tried to help with the house chores.” Miyuki’s mother chuckled. “She’s really a nice daughter.”
“Hai,” Yamada agreed.
“I don’t really know what happened to her yesterday,” she said worriedly. “She came home dripping wet with Kento. Her eyes were all puffy but she didn’t tell me anything. I wonder if someone at school is bullying her…and since then, she’d got this fever.”
Yamada nudged Chinen on the ribs. Chinen stared guiltily at Miyuki. All the things she’s been suffering so far are caused by him. If he could just punch himself…maybe he could ask Kento to do it for him tomorrow…
“Chotto matte ne,” Shiori-san suddenly said, breaking Chinen’s trail of thoughts. “I’m just going to grab a wet towel for my daughter.”
Yamada and Chinen watched as Miyuki’s okaasan went upstairs. When she was out of hearing range, Yamada spoke to Chinen.
“So what do you plan on doing now?” he asked.
“I don’t know…” muttered Chinen, leaning forward to get a better look at Miyuki. “She’s shivering…”
“She’s kind of cute, ne?” said Yamada. Chinen glared at him.
“Just saying,” Yamada said innocently.
Chinen went back to gazing at Miyuki. As he sees her breathing with her eyes closed, Chinen can’t deny that she was kind of pretty. He touched her cheek and then…
“Chinen…” she mumbled softly.
Chinen pulled back. For a fraction of second, he actually thought that Miyuki woke up. But then, when he realized she hadn’t, Chinen started to smile. It must have meant something. Maybe Miyuki still likes him? Or maybe she was dreaming about him…
“Hey, Yama-chan, did you hear what she said?” asked Chinen.
“Is she awake?”
“No, but she said something.”
“I didn’t hear anything. Maybe you’re just imagining it.”
“No, I’m absolutely sure she had spoken,” said Chinen stubbornly.
When he looked back at Miyuki, he saw a tear escape from her eyes. Chinen was startled to see it. He wiped it using his left thumb.
“Gomen ne, Miyu…” he whispered. “I’ve let you suffer like this…”
Just then, Miyuki’s mother came back. Chinen quickly retreated back to his seat.
“Ano…I think we should go home now…” said Chinen.
“Yeah, arigatou for letting us in,” said Yamada.
“Oh are you sure you’ll go now. Wont you wait for Miyu to wake up?” asked Shiori.
“We’ll pass,” Chinen smiled. “Can we ask you for a favor?”
“Sure, anything,” she said.
“Please don’t tell Miyuki we’ve been here,” said Chinen. Miyuki’s mother look puzzled.
“It’s not that I don’t want her to know for some reason, I think I’ll just say it myself at school…” Chinen lied.
“Souka,” she looked relieved. “Okay then.”
“We should keep going then,” Chinen said. “Arigatou for everything and sorry for intruding your house.”
“Daijobu! I owe both of you for saving my daughter,” beamed Shiori. “By the way, you are Chinen Yuri-kun of Hey Say Jump right?”
“Eh?” said Chinen, stunned that she knew about their group. “Hai.”
“You’re my daughter’s ichiban,” Shiori said. “Don’t tell her I’ve told you.” She winked. Chinen look even more shocked.
“Eto…hai…” answered Chinen softly.
“Jaa, kiotsukete ne?” Shiori said. Chinen can’t help noticing that she looked very much like her daughter. “Come back some other time if you can. Our house is always open for Miyuki’s friends.”
“Arigatou,” Yamada and Chinen both smiled at her.
The two of them started to walk back home. Chinen took one last glance at Fujiwara’s house. A smile appeared on his lips.
