Her Downfall

Apr 23, 2011 16:52

*this fic is dedicated to my greatest fan, aishiterujump --> depicted as OC Ami for the reason that I don't know her real name. *
*all characters in here are of the same age.*

“Hikaru-kun!” Ami called.

“Hai?” he turned around.

Ami and Hikaru have been dating for a while now. Hikaru has been kind enough to accept her when she confessed her love for him on the fourteenth of February. Since then, everything was going okay. Ami loved Hikaru so much that she gives everything she can for his happiness. Hikaru thought that he had finally found a decent and perfect girl friend. But, behind his back, he doesn’t really know what kind of person is Ami.

Hikaru was walking on the corridor of their school when Ami called him.

“Nanimonai wa,” said Ami sweetly. “I think I missed you.”

“It has been only two days when we weren’t able to contact each other yet you already missed me,” Hikaru chuckled.

“Mochiron desu!” said Ami proudly. “That’s the proof of how much I love you!”

“I love you too, Ami. You know that demo…” A flicker of uncertainty showed on his face.

“Demo nande?” asked Ami worriedly.

“I’ve been hearing some rumors…” said Hikaru softly.

“What kind of rumors?” asked Ami, setting her face to look politely confused.

“Someone said you’re picking on Nuraina-chan,” muttered Hikaru. “Is that true?”

“Hikaru! You’re going to believe those rumors instead of believing in your girlfriend?” Ami wailed.

“I’m not saying─Of course, I would believe you─I─” Hikaru stuttered.

“Then, everything’s okay then! Just ignore those gossips!” said Ami brightly.

“Okay, if you say so…” said Hikaru. Although he’s still unsatisfied with the turn out of their conversation, he managed to smile at her.

After that, Hikaru went back to their classroom. Ami didn’t come with him, saying that she needed to go to the bathroom.  But the truth is, she’s seeking out Nuraina. Eventhough she managed to escape Hikaru’s doubts, she’d rather not risk it happening again. Those rumors wouldn’t probably have come out if Nuraina did not speak of them to anyone.

Finally, she saw her, walking alone from the cafeteria. That was a good omen, for Ami at least.

“Hey you!” Ami called out harshly.

Nuraina looked to where the voice came from and saw that Ami was trotting her way towards her. Nuraina looked as if she’d just swallowed a bunch of dead insects at the sight of her.

“What do you need?” asked Nuraina, her voice slightly shaking from fright.

Without further notice, Ami clasped a fistful of her hair and pulled her.

“Ah! Itai! Nan─” Nuraina shouted in pain, defending herself but Ami covered her mouth.

She pulled Nuraina to the back of the cafeteria where nobody else would see or hear them as the place was all deserted.  Ami pushed her to the ground.

“What do you think you’re doing?! Spreading rumors that I’m acting like a total b*tch to you?! What if my Hikaru believed that?!” Ami yelled at her.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” said Nuraina weakly, tears pouring out of her eyes.

“Oh yeah, AS IF IM GOING TO BELIEVE YOU B*STARD,” Ami let out a mirthless laugh. Then she slapped Nuraina hard.

“One more of these rumors and I swear you’ll never be able to come back of this school!” Ami barked at her. “Now stand up!” She pulled her hair again. “Go back to the room first or else they’ll suspect me!”

Nuraina swayed as she did her best to come back of their room. She was wiping her tears madly so that no one would know that she cried. But her attempts where proven unsuccessful when she entered their classroom. Her puffy eyes gave her cover up away.

“Nuraina-chan! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?!” Her friend Ai said, suddenly in a hurry as she went to where Nuraina is standing.

“I just tripped,” she lied. “I’m okay.”

“No you’re obviously not okay!” said her other friend, Iyen, as she approached her too.

Nuraina just shake her head in disagreement.

“I agree with Iyen,” Ryutaro said, taking his place beside Iyen.

“You always agree with her,” Chinen rolled his eyes.

“But I really agree with her right now!” Ryutaro said defensively. “Besides, it’s Nuraina we should be talking about.”

“I told you guys I’m okay…” Nuraina said weakly.

Just then someone went by her side. It was Hikaru. He was handing her a piece of band aid.

“You have a small cut on your leg. What happened to you?” He asked worriedly.

Just as she was about to respond, Nuraina saw Ami entering their classroom.

“Nuraina-chan!” said Ami in mock surprise. “Are you okay? Do you want me to accompany you to the infirmary?”

“I’m okay…” Nuraina said again. Then facing Hikaru, he said, “It’s nothing.”

She then walk back to her own place and sat. Ai and Iyen followed her behind.

“It’s Ami again, right?” whispered Ai.

“Let’s not talk about this,” Nuraina whispered back. “Or else she’ll try to pick on me again.”

“Why is it that she hates you so bad?” asked Iyen, outraged.

“I guess it has something to do with Hikaru. She knows I like him.”

“But he’s already hers! What’s the point?” said Ai, rolling her eyes. Nuraina sighed.

Suddenly their teacher entered the classroom. Ai and Iyen hurriedly went back to their own places. Chinen, as the class representative called out, “Stand!” then, “Bow!”. When they were all settled down, the class started.

“First of all,” Ikeuchi-sensei said, their English teacher. “I would like to discuss to you all the proposed project for the semester.” She coughed importantly.

“I have decided that your project would be to create a short story, in English of course,” sensei said. A noisy buzz suddenly broke out of the classroom. “Each of you should make a short story based on your imagination, to be handed this coming Friday.”

“Hayai na!” Ryutaro complained loudly. A murmur of agreement broke out.

“Silence!” Ikeuchi-sensei said. “We have no time to waste. Your exams are closing in. So if you don’t want your review sessions to be bothered, you will do this as I say. Wakatta?”

“Hai hai!” the class answered.

“Well of course, Ai-chan would have the highest score in this project,” beamed Iyen. Ryutaro agreed. Chinen punched him.

“Eh? I hope so…” mumbled Ai humbly.

“You’re so decent! Everyone knows you’re the only one who can defeat me in English!” said Chinen.

“Yeah, Ai, please helped me in English, ne?” said Ami. Then when nobody but Ai and Iyen are looking, she smirked.  “I’ll probably include Hikaru in my story, is that alright Hikaru?” she continued. Some of their classmates wolf-whistled. Hikaru smiled at her in response.

As the date for the submission went nearer, the class was forced to spend their free time at school doing the project. Most of them are just enhancing the story, adding some details.

“Maa! This story is really good, Ai-chan!” Nuraina exclaimed.

“Not really,” said Ai shyly.

“Let me read it!” Ami suddenly appeared before them. She pulled Ai’s work from Nuraina’s grasp.  They watched her as her eyes move from left to right. After what seem to be an hour, she put the paper down on Ai’s desk.

“I think it’s all trash,” she chuckled then walked out.

“Don’t believe her Ai-chan. SHE’S EVIL!” Iyen said hastily.

“Who’s evil?” Hikaru said, hearing what Iyen had just said.

“Oh no one, just your girl sidekick,” Iyen answered him sarcastically.

“Who?” asked Hikaru stupidly.

“You know what Hikaru-kun, open your eyes! There are better people here than your girlfriend. Why don’t you try looking for somebody else?” Iyen said. She’s obviously referring to Nuraina.

“Well, I don’t quite understand what you mean,” said Hikaru, frowning. “Don’t mess with my girlfriend.”

“Oi!” Ryutaro suddenly appeared. “What’s happening in here?”

“Nothing,” said Ai and Nuraina quickly.

“Yeah nothing. Happy nothing,” said Iyen sharply.

The four of them watched Hikaru as he strode out of the room.

……………………

The day for submission arrived.

“Are? Hen dayou na…” said Ai as she rummaged her bag.

“Nande?” Nuraina asked.

“My printed work…I know I put it here somewhere…”

“Are you sure you put it there? Don’t you think you just forgot it back in your house?” Nuraina asked. Just then, Iyen grumbled behind them.

“Nani?” asked Ai, suddenly distracted.

“My work’s missing!” said Iyen in frustration.

“Yours too?” Ai asked.

“Don’t tell me yours is missing?” asked Iyen in shock.

“Well, I’m not entirely sure if it was…but I know it’s just here…” said Ai worriedly.

“Is this all?” Ikeuchi-sensei suddenly called out, pointing at the pile of folders on the table.

“Chotto matte, sensei,” Ami said. “Here’s mine. I wonder if it’s okay. I made two stories, just in case…”

“How nice of you, Ami,” Ikeuchi-sensei said. “That means you’re paying great attention in my class.” Ami beamed.

As Ikeuchi-sensei held Ami’s project and opened it, Ai and Iyen gasped.

“Nani?” Ikeuchi-sensei asked them suspiciously.

Iyen and Ai rushed in front of the room, the others watching them curiously. They borrowed Ami’s work and flipped it open.

“That’s my story! She just changed the title from ‘Unexpected’ to ‘What is Love!’” said Iyen, suddenly outrageous.

“This one is mine!” Ai suddenly shouted.  “Oh no, she changed the title to ‘Wrapped in Darkness’. It’s supposed to be ‘Voices Silently Sing’!”

“What are you two going on about?” asked Ikeuchi-sensei, crossed-arm.

“This is our work! She’s nicked it!” shouted Iyen. Ai nodded fervently.

“Sensei, they’re lying! They’re just jealous of me!” Ami suddenly said, splashing a lot of fake tears down her front.

“You two, why are you accusing her?” sensei scolded them.

“But we are telling the truth!” Iyen and Ai said at the same time.

“I’ve read their work, believe them sensei!” Nuraina said.

“Of course Nuraina you would side up with them. You three are friends!” sobbed Ami.

“Do you three have proof?” asked Ikeuchi-sensei.

They stared wildy at each other for a minute.

“We don’t…” Iyen finally admitted to sensei. “Demo…”

“Well then, you can’t accused her─”

“AH!” Ai suddenly shouted then hastily went back to her seat and delved the contents of her bag. “Hora!”

She quickly showed their teacher the draft of her story.

“I think I have mine too!” said Iyen excitedly. She rummaged through her bag then pulled it out. Ikeuchi-sensei scrutinized the drafts and the printed work. Then she sighed.

“Ami, Let’s talk outside,” said sensei crossedly. Ami looked stunned.

And so, they went out of the classroom and the three of them cheered along with some other girls. Iyen turned to face Hikaru.

“See, I told you! She’s not as white as you think!”

“Yeah but this is just the first time, everyone makes mistakes,” Hikaru defended. Some girls grimaced. “What?” He added.

“She’s been blackmailing me eversince just so I’ll do her homework,” one girl said.

“She pushed me down the stairs when I talked to you last time,” said another.

“Yeah and she’s been hitting Nuraina a lot of times!” Ai said.

“You shouldn’t have told him that…” Nuraina mumbled softly, tugging Ai’s sleeves.

“Why not? It’s true!”

“Nuraina-chan, is that true?” Hikaru asked.

“Well…”

“Admit it,” said Chinen. Everybody was watching Nuraina.

“Yes, that did happen…” she finally admitted.

“That’s so low,” Ryutaro said. Iyen agreed.

“Wow, that’s the first time Iyen-chan agreed with you!” Chinen said. Iyen blushed.

Then comprehension suddenly dawned on Chinen.

“Wait, don’t tell me… you two…” said Chinen, obviously astonished. Ryutaro blushed then looked away. “Woah!”

“Stop that, Chinen-kun!” mumbled Iyen. Their other classmates were congratulating her and some are clapping Ryutaro on the back. It was so embarrassing.

“Demo, Chinen-kun and Ai-chan also started dating yesterday,” Ryutaro suddenly said. Now it was their turn to blush. “Oi Chinen, don’t deny it!”

“Honto Ai-chan?” Nuraina exclaimed. Ai nodded weakly.

“That’s very unexpected!” Iyen said.

Just then Hikaru stood up and went to Nuraina.

“I’m sorry…” he muttered.

“Eh nani?” asked Nuraina, confused.

“For not believing you from the start, and I’m sorry because she hit you.”

“You’re not the one─” Nuraina muttered.

“But I’m still his boyfriend. I have some responsibility over her…” he said.

Nuraina wasn’t able to respond to him.

As it turned out, Ami was suspended for three days. Ai heard that Hikaru broke up with him. When Iyen and Nuraina asked her why, she said Hikaru was angry at Ami for hitting Nuraina behind her back and for acting all good when he’s around.  Nuraina blushed at these words. She didn’t know Hikaru cared so much for her. After a few days, this unusual care that Hikaru showed to her was finally been understood when Hikaru confessed to Nuraina and she accepted it.

On the other hand, Ami has no one by her side. She has no friends, and evidently, no boyfriend. Everybody in the class hates her for what she’d done. It appears that she don’t care about others’ efforts that’s why she’s claiming others’ works as hers. She did it because she hates all those who have connection to Hikaru so she’s trying to bring them all down. But this desperation that she exhibited is also the exact thing that brought her own downfall.
