UNEXPECTED part 1
‘Nande? Why did I end up in this class? And why, please give me a reasonable answer, did Chinen Yuri, my ultimate crush, have to sit beside me for a whole semester?!’
“Ohayo, Miyuki!” greeted Kento, smiling warmly as he walk inside the classroom together with his friends, Yamada Ryosuke and of course, Chinen Yuri.
“Ohayo…” Miyuki greeted back although it sounded as if it came out from a robot’s mouth.
Chinen, without even minding that Miyuki is already there, sat on his own chair, talking all the while with Yamada, his bestfriend. Just his presence makes Miyuki all tensed up.
“Hey…” Kento went closer to her. “Are you okay? Why are you all stiff like that?”
“Eh? Kinishinaide!” Miyuki said, trying to relax her posture a bit.
“Uhm…okay, if you say so,” said Kento, quite doubtfully. He then walked down the aisle and took his own place at the back of the classroom, beside the window.
Miyuki sighed. She then rested her head on top of her arms which are crossed on the desk so that she can listen to Yamada and Chinen’s conversation without being noticed.
“By the way,” she heard Yamada speak. “I heard you broke up with Ayane yesterday.”
“Oh yeah,” Chinen answered carelessly. “I got bored with her.”
“That’s it?!” Yamada asked incredulously.
“Well yeah, I mean, I didn’t even like her in the tiniest bit. You know, she confessed to me and I didn’t feel like rejecting someone so I agreed to go out with her for a little while.” Chinen smirked.
“Taku, Chinen. Dating girls just because they like you. I thought you’d change after the summer break.”
“Why would I?” Chinen grinned. “It’s kinda fun.”
‘I wonder…’ Miyuki thought as she closed her eyes. ‘Why did I ever fall for this guy?’

“I AM SO JEALOUS!” Miyuki’s bestfriend, Nanako said aloud.
They are sitting on a bench just beside the cafeteria, spending their second break time as usual chatting, and nipping some choco baby once in a while. Miyuki just shared to Nanako how Chinen would be her seatmate for at least three months.
“I don’t think it’s something to be envied. We’re not even talking,” Miyuki shrugged.
“That’s because you’re not taking the first move!” lectured Nanako.
“And that’s partly because he don’t know I exist! He’s actually antisocial.”
“Rubbish. Very much like saying an angel is antisocial,” Nanako said sarcastically.
“Well why don’t you try speaking to him, then?”
“I’ll faint for sure,” Nanako grinned. “Why don’t you ask Kento to help you? He’s friends with him.”
“I’ll do so, demo…”
“Nani?” asked Nanako, throwing five pieces chocolate in her mouth.
“Kento will know that I like him eventhough he always tells me how Chinen is a playboy…”
“So? Look Miyuki. You don’t even know if that’s really really true. Besides your intention is just to talk to him! It’s not like you’re drooling over him.”
“This morning I heard Chinen saying that he broke up with his girlfriend because she’s boring,” Miyuki frowned. “That’s proof enough.”
“Why? Are you aiming to be his girlfriend?”
“No but…”
“But what? Oh Miyuki, here’s your chance. I mean, you like him, right? Many girls are dying to get to your position. You wouldn’t know, Chinen might like you too.”
“Sou’ka,” a guy’s voice suddenly interjected from behind.
Miyuki and Nanako quickly looked behind and to their greatest horror, it was Chinen. He was holding his tray of food and was obviously just passing by to dump the tray on the counter when he heard them.
“You like me, huh?” He was smiling unusually warm at her.
“Eto…Sore wa…anou…” Miyuki was fidgeting madly. She never expected she’ll be in for this kind of situation. No doubt she’s blushing all red.
“Chinen!” Yamada suddenly called. “What are you doing there?”
“Chotto matte ne!” Chinen called back. Then bringing his gaze back to her, he smirked and said, “Jaa, see you later…Fujiwara Miyuki-san.”
Miyuki watched him as he walked back to Yamada. Somehow, eventhough she knew something bad is definitely going to happen later, she can’t stop her heart from hyperventilating when he said her full name.
