I have watched several movies since my last posting. Of course time gets away from me and I forget about posting my latest opinions. I joined Netflix so I get all kinds of movies now. Some have been just off the wall crazy and others have been surprisingly good. Unfortunately I am unable to access the site at the moment to look over the movies I have rented and possibly give you a critique of a couple of them. So instead I will tell you who my latest actor obsession is....Clive Owen.
Sometimes I am just slow on the uptake. I first noticed Mr. Owen in Sin City. He'd been in other movies I had seen, but he hadn't captured my attention until Sin City. And not until I started watching Sin City continuously on cable. I blame part of my late discovery on the movie itself. It contained so many stars. And I am sorry but I was just lost in the make-up changes of some of the actors. Plus the fact that Mickey Rourke looks so bad now that they had to do VERY little to make his character look menacing. But I digress.
Since my discovery of Mr. Owen, I've been scouring the web looking for any and everything else he has acted in. Some of my co-workers and friends asked why I like him so much. I think it's because he plays characters with such a cool and calm exterior. Will he explode? Will he just walk away and come back later? He can be very intense and unnerving without being loud and obnoxious. He adds an element of unpredictability and danger to his roles. It's usually the quiet ones that are the most deadly. I like the fact that he shows power without being in your face about it.
I do have one of his movies here that I have yet to watch called Bent. He plays a gay man in it and it is rated NC17. I haven't watched it yet cause I have been sick and unable to stay awake long enough to watch any movies lately. Plus I have like 60 hours of TV on my DVR to watch. It doesn't look like I'm ever going to catch up. But as soon as I do, I will definitely come back and critique my movies again.
Til then...
movies? we don't need no stinkin' movies
