I saw an advertisement for this today on television. I do not know how many of you are Joss Whedon fans, but I love him. I have all the Buffy DVD sets. I am working on getting all of the Angel DVD sets. And I most definitely have the Firefly DVD set.

I instantly fell in love with this show the first time I saw it. I had absolutely no idea they were making a movie. I know it was stated as a hope, but never thought it would become a reality. Not because I felt the show lacked the quality, just people tend to forget projects once they die from the mainstream.

I cannot wait to see the movie. And like some of the other fans, I am going to try to convert as many people as possible to this show. I did that with Queer as Folk, I can do it with this show too.

People tend to think that when you say futuristic or sci-fi, everything is going to be completely over the top or cheesy. I promise you, this show is neither!

It is set in the future, after a great civil war. A man that fought on the losing side becomes a captain of a ship (called the Serenity of the Firefly class). His crew consists of his first mate (Zoe), a woman he fought side by side with during the war. A pilot (Wash) who happens to be married to the first mate. A female mechanic (Kaylee) and a mercenary (Jayne). They travel space as a cargo ship, but do not necessarily always haul things that are legal.

They take on a few passengers to make some money. A Shepherd (Book), a Doctor (Simon) & his sister (River), and a Companion (Inara). The group ends up in amazing and dangerous adventures...eventually coming together as a family instead of just a crew and passengers.

When the show was canceled I was heart broken. When it became available on DVD, I was enthralled. I sat and watched the entire series non-stop. Now that it is being released as a movie, I am totally excited. I encourage you to check out the above website, watch the series, go see the movie and then tell me what you think about this show. Hell if Star Trek can go on for decades, this show can be around for centuries!
