Hi :-) I should have added you some time ago. I was surprised I hadn't friended you on LJ sooner. I like that you said your favorite villain was Agravaine. He came in at a time when Arthur was pretty vulnerable with Uther unwell. Arthur was in need of a mentor to help him out. Then Agravaine, Arthur's own uncle, had the nerve to team up with Morgana to work against Arthur and Camelot. That's harsh.

Love that your last gif there is of naked!Arthur being all awkward and expecting Merlin... oh the disappointment. ;-)

Hi! Have added you back as well :)

To be honest it was hard for me to pick a favourite villain, but I chose Agravaine not only because of the sleaze but because like you said he's Arthur's uncle so his betrayal must have stung, especially after all the other betrayals Arthur faces. I feel like that's worse than being an outright opponent from the start, you know?

Haha yeah, whenever anyone asks for gifs, that's the first one I think of XD

Hi -- thank you! :-)

Yeah, I think I automatically was going to put Morgana as she got particularly vicious later on. But considering it more, I settled on Agravaine. From the beginning, he set out to betray Arthur. At least Morgana had been a good person for those first few years in the show.

I was thinking of Mordred as well for favorite villain. Yet it's not easy for me to just place him in the villain box. I see shades of grey in his character.

Mordred's betrayal was inevitable taking into account Arthurian legend in general, but oh, did it still hurt. :-(

Yes, that naked!Arthur gif + moment is a treasure. ;-) Thank you for sharing. *grins*

I like Morgana, but as a villain I kind of feel like her characterisation was a bit too "evil for evil's sake" in the last couple of seasons -- she would have been much more interesting if she'd had more nuance, I reckon. Mordred was definitely a bit more shades-of-grey, but I would have liked him better if his betrayal had been a little more drawn-out (and Kara had been introduced earlier!). But I'm very picky about villains, apparently XD

Hehe that is definitely a gif that deserves to be shared many times over, so you're welcome :D

Yes, I agree about Morgana. I wish there had been more nuances in her performance... that it didn't seem like she had done a complete turn to evil.

Omg yes. I very much agree about Mordred. Didn't like that what led up to his betrayal was all contained in one episode. And yes, there would have been more emotional impact for the audience if Kara had been introduced in an earlier episode. If we'd already been familiar with her and her relationship with Mordred prior to the betrayal episode, the betrayal would have been more satisfying albeit still painful. I'm with you on villains -- well-written villains are hard to come by sometimes.

Exactly! If we knew and cared about Mordred's relationship with Kara, it would have made his betrayal much more understandable. And if it had played out over more than one episode, we could've seen Merlin and Arthur's reactions to it in more depth, which would have been so much more satisfying an ending than the one we actually got. Alas.

Do you have a favourite villain in any other show? So far one of my faves is Wilson Fisk from Netflix's Daredevil series - I love how three-dimensional he is as a villain!

Belated reply here, but I have heard great things about Daredevil. I really should get to watching it. Nice to hear that the villain is well-written.

I think for me it would have to be Eobard Thawne on The Flash and then Legends of Tomorrow.

He managed to pull a long con, but he had his reasons for doing what he did. Thawne was a smart villain -- even someone who was betrayed by him still sought his help as Eobard had the knowledge he needed.

I have so many feelings about that series, but especially Wilson Fisk. I love how complex all the characters are, tbh, but when I first watched it I was so impressed by how they dealt with the villains compared to a lot of other shows I've watched.

Ooh, I still need to get caught up with The Flash, and I haven't seen Legends at all - so many shows, so little time. Will def put it on my list, though :)

That's good to know. I do like to see a well-written, complex villain. :-)

I hope you like what's happening in The Flash... things have gotten complicated, to say the least. The Season 3 finale will air this upcoming week actually -- I'm prepared to be disappointed, but maybe a little surprised too. We will see...

Legends is a cracky show... they claim to want to protect the timeline and make sure things don't go too haywire with it, but erm... depends on your understanding of "not going too haywire." :p They could be a little stricter with the protection. I hope you enjoy when you get the chance to give it a watch. :-)

"Whenever Merlin and/or Arthur panic because the other is in danger." YES.

I'm excited to read the fic that you recommended, it looks incredibly angsty and that sounds delightful. Heh.
