costume dramas: My love for cotume dramas probably goes back to my childhood love of frilly, girly things, like Barbie doll gowns. I remember the first classic novels I read were On the Banks of Plum Creek (one of the Little House books) and Little Women (the movie tie-in edition, with a photo of Christian Bale, which I bought at the last minute on a shopping trip to the mall with one of my sisters, and which was later borrowed stolen by a classmate). I love elegance of them--particularly the films set in the 19th-century. Favorites include Pride and Prejudice (the 1995 version with Colin Firth and an underrated Jennifer Ehle); Moulin Rouge!, a movie I honestly love mostly for it's art direction and costumes (...and Nicole Kidman's gorgeous hair deserved some sort of special award); and the 1994 version of the aforementioned Little Women, which I loved not only for the story, but it's amazing set design--authentic without being ostentatious about it.

Doctor Who: Admittedly, I haven't kept up with this as much as I did in the beginning. As I said in my other Interests Meme, it took a while for me to get used to David Tennant. I've missed out on a lot of stuff, specifically seasons 3 and 4. I'll have to catch up on DVD. I love it for it's uniqueness. I love the idea of someone just traveling around the universe, time-traveling and having awesome adventures.

Lostzilla: It's the name that was given by Lost fans before we found out Smoky ...well, whatever Smokey is.

Rome: Love the city (never been, though someday I'd like to go). Also, I loved the TV show, and I'm not usually a fan of the swords-and-sandals genre. I haven't gotten to see all of season 2, though, because I've had access to HBO off and on. So, like Doctor Who, I'll have to get the DVDs someday. I like how they did it using the POVs of Vorenus and Pullo. Loved Atia, the Niobe/Vorenus arc (*sniff*), Max Pirkis and James Purefoy did great jobs as the young Octavian and Marc Antony. I also loved the costumes and jewelry designs.

figure skating: I love the athleticism, grace and beauty of figure skating, the costumes--the good ones can be gorgeous, while the bad give you something to laugh at. Although I must say that I wish music selection was varied a bit more (there should be a ten-year moratorium on Carmen and Swan Lake, among others) and the skaters of today just aren't as interesting as the ones from years past. Still love it though, and wish it was easier to find on TV.

Dog Problems: Second album by the now-defunct band The Format. It centers around the breakup of lead singer Nate Ruess and his girlfriend who cheated on him. The album's title refers to situations when the couple would have problems and try to remedy them by getting dogs. You'd think an album about such a bleak subject matter would be all navel-gazing whining, but it's not--it's the peppiest, joyous breakup album ever, and my favorite album of the decade, maybe of all-time--a close runner-up would probably be Aim and Ignite, by fun., Ruess' post-Format band. If you like super-catchy genre-defying music, then you'll like this, I think.
