Too Busy To Update - shock horror!

Nov 17, 2006 09:39

I just realised that it's been a good few days since I updated. Not like me! So, here's a little overview over the week since last I updated was Monday.

Tuesday:
Worked on getting my feature about the British female porn director, Anna Span, done. She was a really interesting person to interview, so it ended up really well, actually. She sent me one of her DVDs as well, so I could see some of her finished work. It's quite good, and unlike a lot of porn made for women, it's not all softcore and boring. I love how a lot of the shots are filmed from the woman's perspective, since that's how we fantasise and remember good sex experiences. And how she actually makes sure to find good-looking men, too! So, I now have some good porn in my DVD collection. Hurrah :-D

Wednesday evening, I was invited to try out the new restaurant Langtry's in Knightsbridge with a guest. So, I took spikey_bastard who, just like me, really appreciates good food. And wow, it was nice! They make traditional British food, but with a modern twist. They use only the best ingredients (which you can really taste) and the food was just so well-thought out and well-presented. And the service was excellent! It was just a joy to eat there.

I had their prawn cocktail as a starter, which is a whole new experience of the prawn cocktail. It's made with crunchy tempura prawns on top of lobster jelly, avocado mousse and lettuce, and with a marie rose icecream melting in between it. Oh, it was glorious! Then, I had Toad In The Hole, but again in quite a new format. They had used the best pork fillet on top of a herby yorkshire puddingy thing with a pumpkin (and something else I can't remember) mousse and a spicy gravy. And cracklings. That were alsmost as good as the Danish ones. Very yummy! And we had the most fluffy and creamy and amazing mashed potatoes that I have ever had. It was like little fluffy clouds of yummy-ness! And then for dessert, I had their selection of icecreams and sorbets, including a strawberry and Pimms sorbet that was out of this world!
Kris had smoked salmon with little potato pancakes/blinis, lamb rack and shank with beetroot salad and runner beans and a selection of mini traditional English desserts (sticky toffee pudding, bread and butter pudding and spotted dick) with whiskey ice cream. We were so full and practically rolled home and collapsed after that.

If anyone are interested, this is the website: http://www.langtrysrestaurant.com - and I can highly recomend it for something special!

Wednesday:
This was just another really busy day, with lots of work to get done, and I finally managed to get on top of everything that had piled up, while I was in Denmark. I also got an email from an editor who had heard of me from another editor, and who wanted me to send him some ideas for his magazine straight away. I love it when new clients come out of the blue, without me having chased them up!
Had amsuing phonecall and msn conversation in the evening with spikey_bastard, who had been out to a work's leaving do, and was really quite pissed - but in a really, really funny way. He even spoke Danish to me :-D

Thursday (yesterday):
Spoke to the editor who wanted me to send him some ideas. It's another in-flight magazine (for Wizz Airlines) and the editor of Sterling Magazine had recomended me. So, I worked all day on getting some good ideas pitched to him, and he has now commisioned me to write one of them. Hopefully, I could do more for them in the future. It's always good to get some new clients!

I was supposed to meet up with Sunny last night, but she had to work late, so we cancelled. So, I summoned my man instead, and we went for some cheap-ish, but nice, Indian food in Shepherd's Bush.

Last night, my left knee started aching in the most annoying way, and it's still like that, this morning. It's very strange and annoying. Hope it goes away on its own....

Now, back to work. Oh, and remember to watch the Children In Need QI special tonight. It was the one we went to see being filmed, and it's hilarious!!
