Sad News
My granddad died early this morning :-(
I have just spoken to my mum. She is both sad and relieved. He's been suffering with the Alzheimer's for a while now, and he hasn't been himself properly. We knew he would die soon. As you may remember, we were recently told that his liver was pretty much dying, and that it was only a question of time until he couldn't live anymore. But we didn't know that it would be so soon.
My mum and my aunt saw him yesterday, and they said that he was as happy and content as he always is, and that he didn't seem scared or in pain. So, that's a good thing to know.
My wonderful, wonderful granddad, though. No longer with us now...
Now, I have to sort out going back to Denmark as soon as possible. I know my mum said that I shouldn't rush, but I'd still like to be there for her. There isn't going to be the mad rush as when my grandmother died, and I tried to get back to say goodbye to her. He has peacefully slept into death, and that's good to know. I'm also very happy to know that he remembered me and was happy to see me when I saw him last, in September.
He was a wonderful man, and I'll never, never forget him or the things he taught me!!
