Garden in winter

I've decided this will be my garden blog, too, since I've gotten more paranoid about sharing real-world activities on sites where I use my real name, and since pretty flowers befit lolita.

I was storing tulip bulbs in the basement over the winter, but it was too warm and they sprouted. So I had to pot them. It was nice to have flowers blooming while there was still four feet of snow on the ground outside!

Several things bloomed in the rockshade garden that hadn't before. Among them:


Forget-me-nots

Creeping phlox
~


And old faithful (which is to say it has bloomed before) yellow ladyslipper.

Once the peonies formed their fat spherical buds, I put some in this spherical flower-aquarium thing I got from my grandmother, and they bloomed underwater.

Finally, as summer came near, irises and bridal veil. I'll post about this summer's garden bounty tomorrow.
