Outer Banks

So I'm at the beach right now, which is awesome, but the weather is kinda crappy. Plus, I've caught a cold, so I've been sickly and a little miserable. But still, I'm at the beach. We've got margaritas, an ocean in front of us to watch, and lots of nap time. :) Yesterday the sting rays were jumping up and doing flips out of the ocean and this ( Read more... )

Not all people in the Medicaid population are difficult to deal with =)

Awww thanks! You're totally right. I need to stop making such shitty generalizations. I guess it's because people always want to tell me about their horror stories, so I never actually hear of the pleasant interactions that happen. :)

ps- I love that pic of Oliver! So cute!!

a couple of things:

First, your job sounds awesome. You are correct that it doesn't sound glamorous, but it does sound pretty great. I'm sure you'll tire of it eventually, and you might get to the point that you are making the same statements those people are making. But for now, it sounds like that job suits you just fine. And with how excited they sounded about you, I really doubt they could have picked the wrong person.

Second, I saw Tilly and the Wall and the Kills (among many others) this past weekend. Tilly and the Wall were fun, and the Kills would have been great except they used a drum machine :(.

Hope you feel better soon!

THANK YOU RYAN! You're right. It definitely does suit me right here and right now. And hopefully by the time I've burned out on this population, I'll have enough experience under my belt to move smoothly to another agency.

They used a drum machine?! Really? That's surprising. I'm SO jealous you got to see Tilly and the Wall! They are really, really high on my list of acts to see (like #1, actually). I just want to see the tap dancing action. Do you listen to Blonde Redhead at all?

Thanks again Ryan!

It will be okay! truangel2 September 21 2008, 02:52:02 UTC
I've worked with the Medicaid population for almost 9 years now. I have to say...Yes it is challenging..and most of them don't appreciate what you do for them.. however... there are some that are grateful and that is what makes my day and helps me realize....OHHH This is why I do this! haha ;) You'll have your days as with any job. You're a very intelligent gal! Remember...These seasoned professionals chose YOU! They think you have what it takes to do the job and so do we! Pretty soon after you get the hang of things...you'll be a pro too! ;) Don't listen to people's opinions and go in with a positive attitude ready to learn and do whatever it takes... You'll come out just fine! Good Luck, Sis! I love you. Keep me posted on how it all goes!

THANK YOU LISA! You're always so uplifting and encouraging. :) I really, really appreciate it. I love you, too!

ps- Mamaw called my mom and said that Vicki called her so excited about the idea of moving in you with you! Apparently you got her pretty excited about it. :)

I am just so proud of you! You have come a long way and worked so hard to get where you are now! And going out and becoming an instructor too! That's excellent! Family get free sessions, right? haha J/K But yes, being an instructor will probably be a good stress relief for you! ;) It's a great idea! ;)

I'm glad that my mom is excited about it! I don't want her to be in that house all the time with no one around to watch over her. I def don't want her driving around much! lol I wish she'd just retire and relax! lol But, she has so many bills she doesn't want to and that's no way to spend the retirement years!

Yeah, no kidding! That's so generous and thoughtful of you to suggest that. She's so excited from all I've heard! Can she retire? Maybe with disability?

And thanks again for your support, Lisa! This job is gonna kick my ass, but that's probably what I need to get jump started into a career of this intensity.
