Cameron stretched his arms behind his head to prop it up so he could get a better view of the lake he lay before. He had just finished a book and could use a break for his eyes. The sun danced across the lake and make it hard to stare at the water for longer than a few moments.

The boy squinted up as he heard footsteps approaching him.

Natalie had been sitting quite a ways away from Cameron before she decided to get up and go say hi to him. She watched as he read a book and smiled, she had always found Cameron to be quite interesting, although a little too quiet for her tastes and their short relationship together was something she thought of once in awhile and wondered what would've happened had she been able to cope with his quietness.

She finally got up off her butt and walked over to where he was laying, "Hi Cam," she said as she came upon him, hoping to not startle him.

Propping himself up on his elbows, he finally recognized who stood before him.

"Oh, hey," he said with a small smile.

Natalie pulled up a patch of grass beside him, "I saw you reading earlier, anything good?"

"Biography of John Lennon," he replied with a small shrug. "I already knew how it ended, so it was missing that element of surprise."

He was always good for a border-line-tasteless joke.

Natalie bit her lip, wondering if she should laugh or not, "But I'm sure the rest of the book was interesting even if you did know..."

She cleared her throat, she did feel awkward talking to him in person. At least on journals it was a tad bit easier.

"Ready to go home?"

ooc: is he like...a 7th year NOW or he will be a 7th year?

"Definitely," he said looking over at the water.

"You?"

ooc: he's going to be a 7th year in the fall.

Natalie shrugged and followed his stare, "I'm torn, I think. Overall? Yea."

"Going to the ball?"

ooc: yea, I'm dumb, I just read that in one of his earlier posts about having a year left..haha.

"Nah, not really my thing," he said, trying to remember why she even dated him in the first place. They had next to nothing in common.

"I imagine you're going, yeah?"

"Oh, that's right," she remembered, "You're going to stay in your room and be naked," she laughed and thought about that for a second.

"Yea, I'm going. It should be fun."

ooc: do you have AIM?

He let out a small laugh.

"Yeah, you'll have fun."

ooc: not yet. i'm getting it soon, i think, though. satcbabe721@yahoo.com is my email.

Natalie twisted her mouth around, trying to find something to say. This felt awkward to her and she wanted to try to break that feeling.

"You should come to at least dance with me once," she decided that was probably pushing her luck, but she couldn't help it. She did want to be friends after all.

ooc: okay, i'm going to e-mail you from natalie.gryff@gmail.com!

He paused.

"Maybe," he said simply, scratching his forehead.

"Dunno if they'd let me in the ball naked," he teased.

Natalie blushed, "I think that may make our dance all the more entertaining," she smiled at him.

"But seriously. Even if you don't stay for the entire thing, I think I'm special enough to deserve a dance."

"We'll see," he said, hoping to drop the topic. He was getting a bit tired of everyone nagging him to go.

"How'd you do on exams?"

Natalie smiled, that was good enought for her. She knew what he sounded like when he was getting tired of a topic. After all the little fights they'd had, it was hard not to realize such things.

"Exams...they were okay. I didn't really study that much. Next year I will though," she was a fair student, but not overly motivated, "I think I failed my potions, actually."

"Everyone thinks they failed Potions," he mused with a grin. "I think I'm the only person I know who thinks they did okay."

He looked over at the girl beside him. It was the first time he had really gotten a good look at her since they broke up. Aside from a few passing glances in the halls, his last memory of her was the way her mascara ran down her face along with the tears when he told her it was over. Talk about guilt. His smile seemed to fade.
