It'd been almost a week since Cameron had been staying with Sam and he was starting to get used to waking up in what was for the moment his bedroom. The shadows playing across the ceiling had familiar shapes now and he stared up at them, letting his mind go blank as he struggled for his breath.
His shirt was damp with sweat, sticking to his skin, and he had the same dream again. Well, not quite the same, but the theme was and the reality when he woke up never changed at all. They were gone. His family, his friends, his world.
His fingers clenched into fists and he wanted to hit something. Someone. What were those steps of grief again? Fuck psychology. He needed to move. He sat up with a jerk and stepped carefully over Ray as he padded on bare feet out of the bedroom.
He wasn't very surprised when he noticed the light still on in Sam's lab, but there weren't any familiar sounds coming from the room. Figuring that maybe she'd forgot to turn it off, he headed over there.
