Room 323, Hyperion - Morning

Dec 30, 2006 16:22

The evening before had been tense. After his conversation with Bel, Cameron's mood had deteriorated. When Veronica had informed him that she was going to meet Logan for coffee, Cameron had just nodded and decided to put off asking her if what Bel had said was true. Which had left him time to overthink and wonder if Angel's remark about 'being ( Read more... )

It had taken Veronica a while to fall asleep last night. Logan's revelations had really thrown her for a loop and she could tell Cameron was upset that she wouldn't talk to him when she got back.

But she had finally managed to drift off and was now currently not thinking about anything remotely involving Logan and Angel and the fact that they might be somewhere snuggling just like she and Cam were.

Somewhere during the night his hand must have found its way under her shirt and as he slowly become more conscious, his fingers flexed against her skin. He shifted closer a bit, lips brushing her cheek and he was definitely getting used to waking up like this.

The light tickle of his fingers against her stomach was enough to start pulling her up the ladder of consciousness a few rungs. Still half asleep, she sighed and settled back into his arms.

Cameron let out a soft hum which might have been his way of saying 'morning' without actually opening his mouth. More likely than not, it was just an acknowledgement that things were nice and she shouldn't move away.

Good thing Veronica wasn't planning to move away. Unfortunately, the more awake she became, the more things she started to remember, and she stiffened slightly in his arms, wondering if he was still upset about last night.

"Morning," she whispered.

The fact that she just had gone from sleepy relaxed to tense again was enough to remind him of last night. "Morning," he croacked and cleared his throat to get rid of the last vestiges of sleep. Sighing, he pulled her a little bit closer against him and buried his face in her hair.

Veronica kept her eyes closed and tried to make herself relax again. It had been nice waking up together the last few days and she certainly didn't want to ruin the few days they had remaining. "You sleep okay?" she asked, dropping her hand to cover his and playing with his fingers.

"Sort of. Weird dreams," he replied, wriggling his fingers against hers. He moved his head, nuzzling her shoulder through her shirt. Possibly his shirt, he noted absently. "You?"

"It took me a while to fall asleep," she admitted, shifting so she was on her back, looking up at him.

Sighing, he stroked her hair with his free hand. "What's wrong?" he asked softly.

Veronica shook her head. "Nothing," she said, having told Logan she would keep what she had learned to herself. "Just couldn't sleep."

His fingers stilled and he studied her for a moment. "I don't believe you. Something happened with Logan."

"We went for coffee. It must have been too much caffeine too late, that's all," Veronica said.

He stared at her. He knew her well enough to know when she wasn't telling him something and that seemed to be the running theme this month. "Whatever," he said, pulling his hand back and rolling away from her to sit up. "I'm sure I'll find out in a year or so."

Veronica sat up and stared at him. "What the hell does that mean?"

Cameron shrugged. "It means that I'm tired of having to find out things after the fact or from Bel. Something clearly is up and I have no clue if I should be worried that you're doing something to put your own life in danger or that maybe Logan did something and you're trying to protect him."
