Outside the dorms, early afternoon

Cameron was waiting outside for Aeryn to show up. He looked up at the sky, but despite the clouds it didn't look like it was going to rain just yet. Although, he supposed swinging in the rain would have its own charm. He'd just never tried it before.

Aeryn heads outside, knowing she's going out there for swings, though the idea's still a little weird to her. Still, she hasn't seen him in a while, so she's here. "Hi," she greets him.

"Yo," he grins and pushes away from the wall he had been leaning against. "I think we're in luc, it's good swinging weather."

"I'll have to take your word for that," she says, looking up to see anyway.

[cameronmitchell]

"Good, I wouldn't lie about anything as important as swinging weather," he says seriously as he starts heading towards the swings. "So, how's... things?"

She shrugs, walking alongside him. "They're all right," she says, because she's gotten through the harder part of this week. "You?"

[cameronmitchell]

"Good," he stuffs his hands in his pockets and glances at her. "We haven't done this in a while."

She shakes her head. "We really haven't," she agrees.

[cameronmitchell]

He kicks lightly at the grass as they continue walking further away from the dorms. "I miss it. I think it took me seeing my parents and realising I missed them to figure out that I've been missing out on stuff here," he frowns as he isn't entirely sure if that makes sense.

It doesn't, not entirely. "What do you mean?"

He stays quiet for a moment as he tries to find the best way of putting it.

"I used to talk to my dad a lot, but that stopped when I came here because I've been scared my parents would pull me out if they knew half of the stuff that's going on. I finally told him some of it, not entirely but he knows about the dreams I've been having since that whole mumbo jumbo alien possession thing. It helped a lot, more than I expected," he pauses. "It just made me realise that I haven't been talking to a lot of people like I used to. I think you might be on top of that list somewhere."

She might agree with him on that. "I've been around," she tells him. "More than ever lately."

[cameronmitchell]

"But I haven't," he says it out loud so she didn't have to. "I'm sorry. I'll do better," he promises as he comes to a stop because they've reached the swings.

She stops, and because she has to, says, "You really didn't have to do this."

[cameronmitchell]

It takes a moment before he connects that remark to the swings and grins. "I wanted to. Swings are fun, but it looks like our anti-emo sign got lost."

Aeryn gives him a sidelong glance. "You had an anti-emo sign?"

[cameronmitchell]

"Yep," he seems to think that's perfectly normal. "Swings are not for emo. They're to have fun and to enjoy life as it is."
