School.

My ever-ending quest for a decent, affordable flight school continues on. Let's review:

Embry-Riddle- Complete tuition with room/board and flight fees is some where around $44,000. It's in Florida, so my Bright Futures scholarship should help assuming I get it. My dad is an ERAU alumni, so I have legacy grants and plenty of other scholarships and grants available to me. They also have a lot of interning programs, so I can graduate with a job already secured with a company.

I visited the campus back in October, so my name is already being circulated around. They have awesome simulators and every flight instructor is a CFII. The diversity of students there is small. They're all pilots. But there are a lot more girls there now compared to before. Embry-Riddle is the biggest and most prestigious name in aviation education.

Florida Institute of Technology- Complete tuition with the flight fees is about $45,000. It's also in Florida. I talked to admissions today over the phone and they're going to send me a general information packet. I missed their college visit to Freedom back in October because of some stupid teacher who didn't give me the pass after he got it. Their students are more diverse and the place isn't 100% aviation. The FIT flight program is pretty much the runner-up to ERAU, but is still impressive on applications. FIT is next on my list of colleges to visit.

HCC- Believe it or not, they have a flight program! I haven't talked to them yet, but they're scheduled to visit Freedom soon, so I'll be there. Honestly, I don't think they'll be wanting $45,000 for their tuition. It's HCC, come on!

Jacksonville University- The nice sounding guy in a magazine I read that just recently had an article on aviation colleges said that JU has a perfect blend of diversity. He comments on how he eats lunch with friends who are majoring in arts, or science. The flight program is "small and personal" and gave him a good tie with major companies so I could grab a job right after he graduated.

Lynn U and Everglades U- These colleges look okay. Not impressive, but still worth a look at in the future.

Yesterday was club day. We had a Tri-M meeting and I was elected the Sergent at Arms along with my good pal Ben. Why a music honor society needs two Sergent at Arms I don't know.

I got a 65 on a test in a class that I normally get 100s on tests. My teacher was nice and let me correct my problems because she felt bad for me. Apparently I had committed something to memory wrong and I did all of the problems wrong. Woops. I also did my speech on aviation after 9/11 in English today and got an A. I'm looking pretty golden for these progress reports tomorrow. I'll post my speech about aviation later tonight.
