Okay, I've promised someone that my resolution for 2008 is that I will post to my livejournal at least once every month. Fortunately January has gotten off to an exciting start, so I don't need to scrounge for news this time around.
First, remember how I raved about my new apartment - top floor, on a hill, quaint old building, nearer the ocean? Well, all those things are great during good weather, but during a windstorm, forget it. We had gale force winds one morning, and two of my living room windows blew out. Rain and glass everywhere. The f-ing wind even blew my sofa across the room! We only had to live with plywood for one long, chilly weekend, and nothing much was damaged except the floor, so all got back to normal pretty quickly. Here's hoping we don't have a storm like that again any time soon.
Second, I've begun job hunting. Had a couple of interesting interviews. I was preparing to leave my current company as of January 31st, since that's the date my boss had set down. When I asked him if there was a plan in place regarding training someone to do my work, he was like "no, why?". Seems the only plan he had was to keep me through April, but forgot to mention it. So while I'll continue to interview, I may be at my old job long enough to reach my 20th anniversary in May. Woohoo.
Third, I am now a Con-Committee member of BASCon! Barely gotten my feet wet so far, but eventually I'll take on some of the bookkeeping and on-site registration duties. In the meantime, if any of you aren't signed up to attend, get out those checkbooks! (Or access those Paypal accounts!) The con is next November in San Francisco, and it would be very cool to see the British contingent there - you know who you are :)
That's about it for this month. Of course, since I'm going to keep my resolution, I expect some updates from other folks too. Ms. Oxford has been very good about it. I wonder what Ms. Austin has been up to?
