the sea!

my brain is on strike. i have no idea how long i've been trying to write this essay for, but it is much too much for 1000 words. most painful 1000 words ever written. it's due tomorrow morning, so of course the vast majority of it will be done today, cause that's how i role. I had to allot a certain amount of time for being pissed off about the fact that a)i had to stop slacking and actually do an essay, and b)this is the third time i've learned some of this stuff, and i am just plain not interested. boo to literary theory and saussere and his signs and signifiers. it was better when stenger taught it.

but enough of that. i seem to only update about work, and who wants to read about that. NO ONE, that's who.

yesterday was gorgeous and fall like, so we decided we needed to find the sea. when you climb to the top of arthur's peak, you can see it and it doens't look that far away. last weekend we took a leisurely stroll in the vague direction of the water, but that ended in a shopping plaza instead of a beach. so this time we went to google maps, which Does Not Lie. Of course, as soon as we got our shit together and actually left Pollock, the weather was no longer fantastic and sunny, but rather overcast. we went on in the hopes that it would clear up again. (it didn't) We walked through secret garden-esqu fields and through residential areas with cute little houses and narrow streets. eventually we made it to the sea. the sea! the beach was ridiculously dirty. i found some pottery. we looked for seaglass because nick still doesn't really know what it is, but all we found was regular glass that had to be thrown back in to ripen. and then we had ice cream at this sketchy place that said AMUSEMENTS on the outside. apparently AMUSEMENTS means gambling for people 21 and over. it was next to a place which looked rather like a castle. i found the composition rather ironic and took many photos, which i would surely post if i could be bothered to upload them from my camera. or download. i can never keep them straight. but there was ice cream, there was deliciousness, and then we walked home because we didn't want to miss dinner.

the other highlight, besides the ice cream, was these two ENORMOUS swans we saw at a pond. i had no idea swans were so big. i think i could have ridden one, if they weren't so scary. i don't know why everyone always talks about how beautiful swans are, i think they're rather terrifying. they could kill me with their enormous beaks and powerful necks. i prefer ducks.

that's about all i've got. time to go procratinate in other ways
