[Mod Post] Update

Jan 12, 2011 14:52

Hey guys - just a quick update. We're almost done with posting, only a couple more works left. Yay! There's going to be a slight delay, as I'm having trouble getting my own computer to start. But as soon as my brother is finished with some school stuff, I'll be jumping on to post what's left :D

So to say that I’m a little disappointed in how this fest panned out would be huge understatement. It was handled poorly right from the start, and yes, that was something of a warning, but I didn’t expect for the fest to end before all the stories were posted. I feel this is a huge disrespect to the people whose fics aren’t up and to those still waiting to receive their gifts.

I understand that people get busy, and that interest is lost, but in either case, it is the responsibility of the mod(s) to step up and let people know. And while I understand that this was done on the time of the mods, I think it shows just a general disregard to those who have also invested their time.

I was willing to believe, at first, that computer issues were at the heart of matters, but a quick investigation showed that certain people in charge were posting on their personal journals and commenting on other peoples’ posts. And honestly, if I hear the excuse that ‘oh, I was posting from my phone’ or ‘I was using someone else’s computer,’ I might actually snap. More than I am right now. All the stories were emailed, which means they are still accessible. At any point, the rest of the fics could have been sent to another mod, or the mods could have posted asking for someone to take over the fest.

I have no idea if this comment will be seen by anyone else before it’s deleted by the mod(s) (and yes, I’m pretty sure it will be, but we’ll see), but if your story has not yet been posted, I encourage you to PM your recipient and tell them you have it and will post it to your own page. For those whose stories are already up, I think you should go ahead and unveil yourselves and take credit. I would personally love to see who wrote what.

The simple fact is that three weeks ago we were told it would only be a short wait until the last of the stories were posted. Clearly, this is not the case. And from what I can tell, interest has been lost in maintaining this community. It’s a horrible shame, and I hope that people are not too jaded against participating in other holiday fests after the bs that has gone on here.

Mod(s):

I think that if you truly aren’t going to continue with the posting, you owe it to the entire community to say so rather than leaving everyone hanging. I can promise that I will pay very close attention to any other fests I participate in and I will warn others away from taking part in events that are run by this group. I have never before been so disappointed in the way a fest was handled, and I hope that, when I do finally decide to participate again, I won’t suffer a repeat performance.
