Reason for reccing: On the surface this is a story about “magic-made-them-do-it” and “no-one-must-know“. If you look past the obvious trope you’ll get sucked into a story full of need, desire and magic. Merlin’s inner dialogue whether he should try to stop the spell that threatens the kingdom and at the same time gets him exactly what he wants is probably my favorite aspect about this fic. Yes, even though the sex makes my toes curl. It’s fascinating how nightanddaze turned a cliché into a current of rich and exciting descriptions that will leave you breathless. Every character voice has an authenticity that is rarely reached in fic.
Another thing I love about this fic is that it doesn’t take twenty-thousand words of courting and angsting about how to tell the other that you want to fuck him only to get romanticized porn; instead nightanddaze keeps it matter-of-factly and yet delivers some of the hottest (and romantic) sex scenes I’ve read in quite some time.
