Summary:
It was a beautiful day. Actually, it was a perfect day for a picnic. Arthur smiled because so far things were going as planned. They had not encountered a single person since they left the outlining villages of Camelot. He and Gwen were very much alone. Their destination, a beautiful valley surrounded with all kinds of flowers that he knew Gwen would love to see and smell. They took 2 horses with them with their picnic basket and some other picnic gear tied behind Arthur's horse. When they were nearing the valley Arthur coaxed, ok more like begged Gwen to get on his horse as they would just let their horses walk because they wanted to enjoy the magnificent scenery around them.

"Arthur, I hate to sound so cliche but are we there yet?" Gwen straightened up and gave Arthur a side glance. Ok, here she was riding sidesaddle on a horse with the man she loved with all her heart and she was whining like a girl?
Arthur smiled, bent down to touch his lips to Gwen's head before he said in a very loving tone, "Patience, my sweet Guinevere."
Gwen sighed as she burrowed her face into Arthur's chest. "I just don't see the point of riding all the way here when we could have a nice picnic just outsite the walls of Camelot."
Arthur frowned. "That Merlin said you'd love it if I took you away from Camelot for a picnic. He also said you'd find it more romantic. That twit! I'm going to kill him as soon as we get back." He then pretended to turn back the horse.
Just then a piercing scream echoed through the forest.
Arthur stopped the horse and slid down to the ground. "Stay here. If I'm not back in a few moments ride back to Camelot and don't look back."
Gwen too slid down from the horse and faced Arthur. "Surely you don't mean that. I cannot leave you here."
Before Arthur could reply they heard another scream.
Arthur quickly grabbed the two horses' reins and tied them to a nearest tree. He then turned to Gwen. "Stay close behind me."
"Wait Arthur. You have to give me your dagger. I can fight."
With the sword in his hand, Arthur shook his head. "Out of the question."
Gwen scowled at his back and she was going to say some more when out of nowhere a boy of about 10 years old came running into them.
"Help! My sister is having a baby!"
~
"What is your name?" Gwen asked the girl who looked too fragile and young to be having a baby.
"Elisha, my lady." The girl panted out.
"Maybe we should take her to Camelot, Gwen." Arthur, who has been awfully quiet finally found his voice.
"Aaaaaaaahhhhh." The girl screamed.
Gwen could only shake her head. "We can't. The baby is coming now."
"How do you know that?" Arthur nearly yelled out.
"Because I can see the head." Gwen replied with a laugh.
Arthur looked as if he was going to keel over right then and there. "Good Lord."
"Ben, is the hot water ready?" Gwen turned to the boy who was a lot calmer now that there were other people present to help him and his sister.
"Yes, my lady."
Gwen looked up at Arthur with a loving smile. "Arthur, I need you to stay close to her please."
Arthur stood motionless for a few moments before he moved his feet and knelt down next to the girl.
"Ok Elisha. When I say push you have to push ok?"
Elisha panted and nodded her head.
"Ready?" Gwen asked Elisha.
Arthur shook his head furiosly. "I'm not ready Gwen!"
The girl actually laughed as she grabbed Arthur's hand and squeezed hard. "The baby cannot wait sire."
"Ok Elisha, push!"
~
"Don't put me through that kind of ordeal again. Promise me Guinevere."
Gwen was sitting on the ground while Arthur was lying on his back with his head on Gwen's lap. Gwen stroked his hair but her gaze was towards the mother and daughter who were sleeping soundly. "Did you see her? The baby?"
Arthur snorted. "That was the ugliest baby I have seen."
"Ssshhh! Arthur Pendragon!" Gwen pulled some of Arthur's hair.
"Awww. That hurt." Arthur complained.
Gwen gave a giggle before she went back to stroking Arthur's head. "I'm sorry. But you musn't say things like that. The baby is quite beautiful. And she named it after us."
"AR-WEN. What kind of a name is that?
Gwen smiled and sighed dreamily. "I like it."
Arthur studied Gwen's beautiful and contented face before he reached up to touch her chin. "Give me a kiss."
Gwen laughed. "I can't"
Arthur frowned. "Why not?"
"Because Ben is watching us."
Arthur sat up and turned to look at the boy who was indeed gawking at them. Arthur gave a sigh, shook his head and turned to Gwen. "I'm sorry you didn't get your picnic today."
"It's alright. There's always a next time. And just so you know, I thought it was very sweet and romantic of you to take me out here. This is a beautiful place"
Arthur kissed her on the forehead. "We're not exactly there yet. But I promise you will love it there. The place is almost magical."
Gwen leans forward until their faces are almost touching. "Being here with you, like this. It's magic for me."
Gwen's saw Arthur's eyes flashed with desire and love.
"Is he looking now?" Arthur said without taking his eyes off Gwen.
Gwen shook her head while Arthur closed the gap between them and kissed Guinevere with all the passion he possessed and with all the love he felt for her.
