So..my attempt at number one. Sorry if it isn't what you're looking for.

"The girl is a maid, Arthur!" Uther slashed the air with his hand in conviction. "A simple peasant! There are hundreds of her!"

"You're wrong!" Arthur roared, glaring his father down in pure anger. "There is absolutely no one - no one! - like Guinevere! And I lo-"

"For goodness sake!" Uther looked at him in exasperation, "You are not going to tell me that you...that you have affections for the girl!" he looked at his son in pure disbelief before snorting. His face sobered before gravely looking down on his son, "Have your way with the girl - have your way with all the servant girls - just don't speak of this again, and I will pretend we never had this conversation."

Arthur regarded his father for the first time with disgusted eyes. Never, never had he felt such bile in the back of his throat. "If you think that Guinevere is just like any other servant girl," he said with soft anger, "you are mad. She is the most noble, honorable woman in all the lands, and I am most humble that she had chosen me." he paused as his father's eyes widened at his declaration and tone.

The boy that dutifully followed his father had learned to think for himself; he had become a man.

"I love her," he finished in a low voice, almost in revelation to himself before firmly stating, "I love her, Father, and if you will not bless this marriage, then I can only inform you, my King, that we will be marrying come winter." Arthur regarded his father with cool, telling eyes. There was no question, no doubt that he will do as he says.

After a moment's pause Uther sat back in his chair and Arthur turned on his heel for the great oak doors out the throne room.

"What do you know about love?" Uther shouted bitterly from his throne. "You cannot know with absolute certainty that you love this servant girl!" Arthur paused in his steps and Uther smiled. "Come now, the girl simply wants you for golden trinkets and silk dresses," he scoffed.

Arthur turned and yelled with unbridled rage. "That only shows you know nothing of my affairs and your own son!" he motioned wildly with his hands, "For a second there, I thought you cared for my well being, but clearly you're lashing out without offense in pure ignorance!"

A clear vein bulged upon Uther's forehead as he stood with such force that the chair skid, "You will not - CANNOT - marry some mere servant girl!"

Arthur opened his mouth incredulously and with a wry laugh he scoffed, "You should talk - you married a troll!"

Uther was shocked into silence as Arthur met his eyes, daring him.

"Yes, that's right, my will-be-wife is at least still human, so excuse me if I have little to no faith in your insights." he bowed halfway mockingly, "Good night, Father. I trust that you will be in high spirits early morning before meeting my betrothed."

Arthur smiled before squaring his shoulders and walked steadily out the great oak doors. He almost wanted to throw back that he would be seeing Guinevere now, but thought better seeing as he was already breathing in angry, shallow pants.

Besides, angering his father to death would only delay his marriage; Guinevere would absolutely want him to honor his father properly with a funeral rather than skipping straight to the alter anyhow.

why is everyone apologizing? If I wanted something exactly how I envisioned it, I would be writing this stuff myself. I like how you use "you married a troll" to shut up Uther. And Arthur and Gwen is getting married!

so I like it.
